Freya Bridge Wind Vanes

These are wind vanes mounted onto lamp posts on the Freya Street Bridge in Spokane, Washington. They are mounted around the lamp posts, and turn away from the wind. The ball forms on the ends, floating away from the main forms, are pointing the direction to which the wind is blowing.

The pieces are 7′ tall x 4′ wide x 1.5′ thick. They are made of aluminum, and painted with acrylic paint, and top coated.

This was a huge effort by Washington Department of Transportation, Spokane Public Works, and the Spokane Art Commission, as well as many other persons and organizations in Spokane.
